Jill Pogach Michaels, Esq.
Founder and Managing Partner
Jill Pogach Michaels, the managing partner and founder of The Law Offices of Jill Pogach Michaels and Michaels Title and Escrow, began her legal career as a litigator for one of the region’s most prestigious law firms, Saul Ewing. She graduated with Honors from The George Washington School of Law in DC. Ms. Michaels is licensed to practice law in Maryland, DC, and the US District Court of Maryland. The Law Offices now has several attorneys and staff fluent in Spanish, Hebrew, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese. In June 2007, the firm pioneered the practice of loss mitigation for homeowners and has successfully negotiated countless short sales throughout the DC Metropolitan region. The firm continues to have tremendous success obtaining loan modifications, motions to stay and other foreclosure defense, bankruptcy as well as residential and commercial contract disputes. Michaels Title & Escrow conducts residential and commercial settlements in MD, DC & VA.
In 2015, Ms. Michaels received the Client Distinction Award and in 2013, Ms. Michaels received an award for one of the Top Lawyers in Maryland for highest in ethical standards and professional excellence. She is a proud member and active participant in the Greater Capital Area (GCAAR) and Prince Georges County (PGCAR) Associations of Realtors.® Ms. Michaels was named GCAAR Affiliate of the Year for her valuable teaching, training and dedication. She has served on the GCAAR and PGCAR Education Committees, and the Contracts and Clauses Committees, whose role is to draft and revise the contracts for real estate agents in MD, DC. She is also on the Property Management Committee for GCAAR. Ms. Michaels instructs hundreds of Realtors® on The Maryland and NAR Code of Ethics and conducts orientation for GCAAR new members.
Ms. Michaels also teaches continuing education for lawyers on real estate, loss mitigation and foreclosure defense for the Maryland and County Bar Associations. In April 2014, she taught a joint Family Law and Real Property Sections course on loss mitigation. Ms. Michaels most recently was published in the July 2013 issue of the Maryland Bar Journal for an article entitled, “2013: Practical Implications of Short Sales and Loss Mitigation.” In 2013, she was honored with serving as a panelist for the Montgomery County Housing Opportunity Commission, along with fellow panelist, a Senior Business Manager for Fannie Mae National Servicing on foreclosure and loss mitigation.
It is Ms. Michaels’ belief that helping others in a meaningful way through dedicating firm resources and time is vital to the practice of law and the community. She does this by making regular donations to individuals in need, non-profit organizations, and through free legal work for destitute individuals. Ms. Michaels and her firm were featured for Excellence in Foreclosure Prevention and her participation in the Maryland Pro Bono Foreclosure Prevention Project in the Maryland Bar Journal. She also serves pro bono as in house counsel and on boards for non-profit organizations. Ms. Michaels currently resides with her husband and four children in Montgomery County, Maryland. Mr. Michaels serves as the CEO of the Michaels Family. In his “stay-at-home-dad” role, Mr. Michaels reiterates that he still must report to the Board.
Alexei M. P. Silverman, Esq.
Alexei M. Silverman graduated Harvard Law School in 1996, Cum Laude. After a judicial clerkship for Judge Suzanne B. Conlon on the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Alexei moved to the Washington, D.C. area. For over a decade, he practiced complex civil litigation at Am Law 100 law firms, where he specialized in defending mass tort and toxic tort claims pending in state and federal courts nationwide, as well as the related insurance coverage actions. At his primary former D.C. firm, Alexei also headed the litigation training program for junior to mid-level associates.
Alexei opened a solo law practice in late 2009, where he provides creative and cost-effective legal services. He is licensed to practice in Maryland and D.C.
Alexei is admitted and routinely practices in a variety of state and federal courts in his licensed jurisdictions, including the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Rockville District Court, the United States District Courts for Maryland (Greenbelt and Baltimore), D.C. Superior Court, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He also practices on a national level, most recently in Chicago, Illinois and Dallas, Texas.
Alexei obtained his B.A. from Rice University (Class of 1992), where he graduated with honors. Magna Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa.
Benjamin Silver, Esq.
Benjamin Silver is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law recently admitted to the New York bar and pending admission to the District of Colombia bar. While in law school Ben worked as a law clerk for a firm that specializes in real property tax appeals and condemnation matters. Additionally, Ben holds a masters degree in education from Loyola University Chicago. Ben enjoys travelling and teaching and has spent time teaching in India, Australia, and Israel. Ben concentrates his practice on real estate law and loss mitigation, including short sale negotiations, loan modifications, and debt settlement.

After working on Capitol Hill and graduating college with pre-law, Eli Fink began his career in the field of community outreach and education. After spending many years in the non-profit world in a variety of executive positions well….not making any profit, Eli has joined the law firm of Jill Pogach Michaels as a senior paralegal. The current downturns in the economy and the real estate market have hurt many families and the Law Offices of Jill Michaels has a proven track record of helping those in various forms of financial distress. Involved in all areas of short sales as well as assisting our attorneys in real estate and bankruptcy cases, Eli is able to merge his passion for helping those in need with his management and interpersonal skills.
Sarah Milstein joined the Law Firm of Jill Pogach Michaels as a Senior Paralegal. Sarah has almost a decade of experience working in the mortgage industry, most recently as a Senior Loan Officer for the national Cross River Bank. Sarah’s experience in the mortgage industry allows her to communicate with the lenders and complete successful negotiations for her clients. Sarah is the mother of young children and uses her patience and compassion and goes all out for each and every client Sarah’s persistence and devotion makes her an essential member of the team.
Fabiola is the founder of Fabiola Alvarado Services, LLC which my focus is in the Hispanic community.

Meredith is the executive assistant to Jill Michaels, at The Law Offices of Jill Pogach Michaels & Michaels Title and Escrow.
Meredith brings top-notch customer service, support and incentive. A Washington D.C. native, Meredith graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in from Salisbury University. In her prior career, she quickly became a seasoned Graphic Designer for ad agencies and boutique print shops. Later, her love and enthusiasm for design followed her to Philadelphia where she began working at a high-end event planning and catering company. There she flourished as an event planner, executing weddings, corporate and social events throughout the tri-state area and Main Line.
As her journey in Philadelphia transitioned to a move back to the Washington area, Meredith was soon offered a career in the real estate and title industry. She seized the opportunity to once again meet a new challenge. Her singular drive and talent make her an invaluable asset to the law firm and title company.
Francine is the welcoming voice you hear when calling the Law Offices of Jill P. Michaels and Michaels Title and Escrow. She handles the high volume of calls with care and professionalism. She is a highly motivated Receptionist with over 20 years of experience which includes customer service, team supervision and front-of-the-house management, all of which have prepared her for the day to day tasks of a busy and exciting office environment to ensure that every clients interaction is positive and professional. Francine is also a Kaplan University graduate and holds a license as a Medical Assistant.
Jung-Hoon Samuel (“Sam”) Kim

During his law school, he interned for a judge at the Circuit Court for the Montgomery County and clerked for civil / criminal litigation attorneys at a prestigious law firm in Maryland. After law school, he clerked at an immigration litigation law firm where he was trained to deal with all types of immigration visas, asylum cases, and removal and deportation proceedings before the immigration court.
